    Emeritus Faculty Policy
  • Attach a copy of the proposed policy.*

    The pdf is attached.

  • Describe the advantages and disadvantages of the proposed policy.*

One advantage to the updated policy is that it enables departments to weigh in on retirees who have been nominated for emeritus status. Another is that the policy reads better.  I am unaware of any disadvantages.

  • Specify a financial impact statement to SSU if the policy is adopted.*

As the policy states, those with emeritus status do not receive compensation, so there is no financial impact to the university.

  • Specify the impact on SSU if this policy is NOT adopted.*

Departments would not have the ability to vote on retirees who have been nominated for emeritus status.

  • If applicable, please record the names of other initiators who contributed to this proposal

The Research and Scholarly Affairs Committee of the UFS participated in the revision of this policy.  The members include Wendi Fleeman (Chair), Maggie Lehman, Leila Lomashvili, Theresa Jackson, and Janet Feight.
